The Duties of Parents by J.C. Ryle

The Duties of Parents by J.C. Ryle

If I had to choose one book to learn how to train your children in the way they should go, this would be the book.  This book was written in 1888 and it offers parents biblical principles that are straight forward and practical.  It is also a short read (51 pages), which is a plus when you are a parent and reading for yourself can be difficult to do sometimes!

These are just some of the principles from the book.

-"Train up your child with all tenderness, affection, and patience"
-"Train your child to a knowledge of the Bible"
-"Train them to habits of diligence, and regularity about public means of grace"
-"Train them to a habit of always speaking the truth"
-"Train them remembering continually the influence of your own example"

"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6
